Use multiple online identities with Twin Apps

ZenFone 4 Twin AppsOne of the great new additions to ZenUI 4.0 is Twin Apps. This lets you easily jump between multiple social media and communications accounts, even if that’s not easily supported within the app. Twin Apps creates a clean, blank copy of the app on your ZenFone so you can log in with all new credentials.

How to set up Twin Apps on ZenFone

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to bring down the notification tray.
  2. Tap the gear in the top-right to open the Settings menu.
  3. Tap ASUS customized settings, then Twin Apps.
  4. Tap the toggle on each app you wish to have a second account for.

It’s not possible to duplicate all apps, but many popular ones should work fine after a short wait. Once complete, a second version of the app will show up in the app list with the small orange Twin Apps icon on it. Open it, and log in with whatever secondary credentials you have.

Now the Twin App will show up everywhere a normal app would, including the system-wide share menu. That means you can also manage notifications separately from that of your second online identity.

There are a number of reasons you may want to set up Twin Apps. For one, the native app’s interface for jumping between different accounts may not be easy to do or practical. Secondly, you may want an additional layer of security on one of your social or instant messaging accounts. Once the Twin App is made, you can use Lock Apps to put access behind a passcode, for example. If you’re sharing a device or are managing somebody else’s online identity, it may be helpful to have your personal accounts entirely separate.

That’s all there is to Twin Apps! It’s a unique and easy way to jump back and forth between different online personas. Be sure to check out the other great new features in ZenUI 4.0 over here!
