Safeguard: Your lifeline in an emergency

SHARE:

New in ZenUI 4.0 is a feature called Safeguard, which connects you instantly to emergency contacts. There are two ways to do this: SOS for serious situations, and Report Location, for when you have a bit more time to communicate. These are both set up from the settings menu.

How to set up Safeguard

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to bring down the notification tray.
  2. ‎Tap the gear icon in the top-right to open the Settings menu.
  3. ‎Scroll down and tap ZenUI Safeguard.

When you tap SOS, you’ll be able to set one or multiple contacts to whom you’ll send GPS coordinates and a preset message when you press the power button three times in quick succession. This lets you quickly get the word out that you’re in imminent danger. SOS will also immediately start a call with your local emergency number (such as 911). SOS can even be activated from the lock screen, making it a perfectly easy solution even when it’s in your pocket and you want to send an SOS without having to see the screen.

You can send out similar messages without launching into a call for more casual location sharing. You can use Report Location from the system tray to send the same GPS tracking link to one or multiple contacts. This can be useful for simple peace of mind, or added convenience when coordinating regularly with friends and family. These GPS coordinates will continue to to track as you move, so no need to worry about making sure if your friends and family have the latest information.

Even if you never have to use it, having Safeguard at the ready can provide greater personal security and peace of mind. Set it up on your ZenFone today, and check out the other great new features in ZenUI 4.0 while you’re at it!
