How to set up Windows Hello

The ZenBook 3 and ZenBook 3 Deluxe both come with fingerprint scanners on the trackpad which work perfectly with Windows Hello. This log-in system lets you keep your laptop secure while providing quick and easy access during day-to-day use. Getting started is really easy.

How to set up Windows Hello

  1. Type “fingerprint” in the search bar. Click Set up fingerprint sign-in at the top of the results.Setting up Windows Hello
  2. Click the Set up button under the Fingerprint subheading for Windows Hello.Setting up Windows Hello
  3. Then click the Get started button in the Windows Hello setup window.
  4. You may need to enter the PIN number you assigned to your account when you logged in.
  5. Press and lift your finger on the sensor multiple times as prompted.zenbook3-fingerprint.jpg
  6. You’ll be prompted to do the same again from a different angle. This builds additional familiarity.
  7. You’ll be prompted to set a PIN as a back-up log-in mechanism if you don’t have one already. You’ll also have the option to register additional fingerprints through the same process.

Now when you turn on your ZenBook 3 or ZenBook 3 Deluxe, you’ll be able to get started just by pressing your finger on the scanner. No more fiddling with passwords, so you can get right to whatever work (or play) you have in mind.

Windows Hello recognizes which fingerprint is used to log in, so if it’s a shared computer, the log-in will recognize and boot up into the appropriate user.

Though logging in is the main use for Windows Hello, there are several apps that can use it for authentication too, like OneDrive, Dropbox, and Enpass. Take a look at all Windows Hello-enabled apps here.
